Cologne will see two major trade-fairs this year: Gamescom, the No. 1 event for interactive computer and video games and entertainment, starts in August. Anuga , the leading trade fair for the global food industry, will follow in October.
Gamescom, the world's largest event of it’s kind, is held annually in Koelnmesse. International game developers show their latest games here from August 22nd to 26th. This year the top level international developer conference "devcom" debuts during gamescom; it is running from August 20th to 24th. devcom consists of conferences, workshops, summits and networking events. In 2016 about 345,000 visitors attended gamescom.
Anuga, the leading business platform for the food industry, the retail trade, food service and catering market, starts on October 7th. It is split up into ten theme areas: Anuga Fine Food, Frozen Food, Meat, Chilled & Fresh Food, Dairy, Bread & Bakery, Drinks, Organic, Hot Beverages and Culinary Concepts. The new show “Culinary Concepts” bundles cooking skills, technology and gastronomy concepts. Once again the finals of the professional competitions "Chef of the Year" and "Patissier of the Year" will take place at Anuga.
